Summer is over and it's easy to become less active as the weather gets colder. Avoid this slump by taking your fitness routine to the next level this fall and winter! Here are some tips to help you fall into fitness.
Our clinic has received Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) funding for the past 15 years. EOC is an organization that provides energy assistance to many of our families. We value EOC and their programs are so helpful to many in our community. Denver Indian Health & Family Services' (DIHFS) mission is to provide culturally competent services that promote health and well being of our patients. Providing energy assistance services has helped support our mission also while lessening the hardship many families live with every day.
Diabetes is one of the most common medical conditions in the United States. If you have diabetes, it means your body either cannot make or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is made by the pancreas. It allows the body to take sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates found in the food that we eat and use it for energy. Insulin also helps keep your blood sugar level from getting too high or too low.
I hope you are enjoying the summer season, and the happiness, peace and health it brings to you and all your loved ones! This year we celebrated 40 years of service in our American Indian/Alaska Native community. Our Board and past leadership have worked hard to lay the foundation of our clinic. When times of decreased funding plagued our programs, we always found a way to keep our doors open. Through the support and commitment of our board, we are effective in delivering care within our health system.
For many of us, running or walking serves a specific purpose in our lives. We may run for better health and wellness or for stress relief. We may run for the enjoyment of time spent outdoors. We may run for the sense of personal accomplishment it brings to our day.
