Continuous Enrollment in Colorado Ends in May 2023
In late 2022, Congress established an end date for Medicaid continuous enrollment, separating it from the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE). States can begin disenrolling Medicaid members as early as April 1. Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) will return to normal renewal processes with the first notices going out in March 2023 for members with renewals due in May 2023. With the upcoming end of continuous enrollment, members will be required to renew their Health First Colorado and CHP+ coverage for the first time since the PHE started. Additionally, newer federal regulations require members to sign and return their renewals. Renewals can be signed and mailed to the member's county of residence of members can mail or drop off at Denver Indian Health and Family Services.
Members who do not return a renewal packet may lose coverage.
The first packets will likely go out in March, for May renewals. Renewals will happen over the course of 12-14 months, with each member receiving their renewal packet during their regular renewal month.
